Code breaking is a skill that has been harnessed since the days of ancient Egypt and before. It’s a methodology for deciphering and decrypting messages.
Without even realizing it, you’ve been deciphering marketing messages that are rooted in manipulation and oppression.
I want you to know that uncomfortable feeling you get when you try to market following these mainstream tactics, shouldn’t be ignored. I’ve been there. Over the years, it can hinder your business from ever moving forward.

Hi. I’m Alicia-Joy Pierre, and I help entrepreneurs create and clarify their messaging and marketing so they can build confidence around their competence and engage online, without resorting to mainstream, manipulative marketing tactics.

Since, 2012, I’ve written hundreds of webpages, articles, and email campaigns, created 9 journals + published 3 books of my own (and ghostwritten 5 for clients). I’ve also provided writing training, coaching, and copywriting to online entrepreneurs.
I write about the Pseudo Positivity Culture; the pervasive marketing culture that uses manipulative shame and guilt triggers disguised as positivity and empowerment. I write about this because I want us to decode and resist the common marketing tactics that further trigger, oppress, and dehumanize marginalized people. That’s also one of the goals of the online entrepreneurs I work with.
The businesses I work with do not prescribe to the one-size-fits-all plastic model of what fitness, wellness, personal development, happiness, should look like. And so they are not on board with the mainstream methodology of using shaming and social triggers to market their products. They know there’s another way to sell.
My clients are committed to their own empowerment, as well as that of their clients, and the ripple effect their work can have on the larger community.
How did I get here?
Nursing gave me a front-row seat to life like nothing else I’ve ever done – and maybe ever will do again. This same front row seat sharpened my life lens, as I like to call it.
This is the same lens I look through to decode the triggering marketing messages hemorrhaging through the body of the online marketing world.
My writing has evolved since 2012. It’s been on a journey, as have I. I’ve trained in copywriting and taken more courses than seems reasonable. Most of them taught me to write copy from the trigger inducing, pain- focused model. That’s the mainstream. And I did just that. Over and over. Feeling uneasy all the while.
My current copywriting methodology
I now write copy and marketing messages that do not fit mainstream euro-centric conventions, which continue to shame, guilt, and trigger marginalized peoples with pressure tactics and imaging that reflects an ideal that we do not match (for example, the ultimate picture of health and fitness is ultra-skinny, forever young and pretty, bubbling with non-stop positivity, and white).
These conventions guilt and shame people who do not fit this ideal. This shame and guilt then triggers people into buying products that aren’t in alignment with who they are.
In contrast, my writing connects, uplifts, and informs readers, making it easy for them to make decisions on what to do next, without bullying or pressuring them to make decisions under manipulation.
My methodology is fused with influences from my lineage. The line of positive mentors (known and unknown) who have helped shape my questioning, thinking, development, and life.
You’re breaking the code!
Most of us aren’t decoding military messages. But the battlefield of oppression is broad and complex. And we’re now tasked to decode and rewrite the messages that continue to belittle, trigger, and dehumanize us and our clients.
With every offer we create, every message we send out, we can choose to wield words that either uplift or demean.
Choose wisely but bear no guilt or shame for the choices you made in the past.
